Last week I went out with good people to the MIAs Bike Night. Weeeeeee!

There were a few local frame builders there, booze & music. Plus, we filled our brains with old old art >> getting free passes to the current Rembrant exhibit. It was nice. ...as always, and most importantly, I get to do these sort of things with some of my favorite people. [ Yesssssss! ]

Oh, and, side note: our photobooth shot is the main image on the event Flickr page. BAM!

CPA work

I had the opportunity to work with another great client, Mary Sievers,...on a full brand and website build. Mary was so sweet, and so great to work with,...and the final design was clean and consistent.

I like those things.

...I wanted to take a couple moments to share some of the quick graphics from the project.

Check out her site to learn more. GOOD STUFF.

And,...no hiding my resources on this one: icons, photography. [ Teamwork, do it! ]

new design purchase

I recently stumbled on this guy. ...and ended purchasing his little font/goodies bundle.

It could have been an impulse buy—maybe,...but, I think a couple of these fonts are perfect for a project i'm working on. Working with that handdrawn, illustrative look >> these are just the fit I needed. Weeeeee!

**All fonts & images by Gerren Lamson,...in case you didn't guess it.

currently working on: paper lemon photography

I've said it before, but I find myself getting to work on some of the coolest things.
Miss Molly, the owner and magic behind Paper Lemon Photography >>
has been looking to update her look for a little while now.

Despite putting a few projects on hold for a couple months, she's patiently stuck with me, and we're finally at a point where we're going to kick this project in motion! I've been brainstorming and grabbing inspiration for months. Working to find a good balance of vintage & modern, to create a look she'll really love. This will likely unfold over the next couple months >> and i've got some great starting blocks.

Stay tuned to see where this little project ends up. It's going to be GOOD. ❤

all the lovely babes

They're coming! Babies! So many babies!

Many lovely friends are expecting their first [ and second! ] little ones within the next few months. A couple of my favorite people expect to see their little lady, very soon. I patiently wait. [ Eeeee!! ] I'm excited to see them all in real-life. There will be so many adorable photos in the coming months, I just know it.

Wishing the moms and dads and parents-to-be, lots of joy and peace right now.
And congrats to these friends of ours on handsome little Gabe! [ So many cute faces. Goodness. ] ❤

good design stuff: nike training club

This is really not my thing, but somehow >> they got me. Nike got me,...with this lovely [ FREE ] app.

The app was mentioned over here for brand-building reasons,...and I've seen it pop-up in a handful of other places, too. And it's worth all the hype. This is, from what i've discovered so far,...the prettiest app i've seen. Plus, it's actually awesome and helpful. I can barely walk today because of yesterday's butt-kicking workout.

Congrats to the entire design-team on this one—whoever they all are.
...even the promo videos are spooky // clean // sassy // & awesome. Er?...YES! ❤

texas style

I was lucky enough to find my way into this little project for the Texas Style Council. Bloggers: unite! Each year, fashion bloggers from all-over, join up in Austin TX for a networking event like no other. You can read all about them on their site >> but just know that these ladies and this conference, are awesome.

I've magically found myself involved with a handful of these great people... [ thanks to my lifelongawesomefriend: KELSEY ] ...and love it. I love fashion. I love people. And I love design. Getting to come along many of these ladies, through design, is wonderful.

The TxSC came to me needing some refreshment & direction. Their biggest missing piece was cohesiveness. I played with patterns and textures to give them plenty of elements to use however they might need. We have a great guidebook for outsiders to understand, at a quick glance, how they can get involved in the conference.

As always, thanks to the amazing people who've worked with me on this. ❤

A number of weeks ago, one of my favorite ladies, mentioned catching this exhibit at the Walker if possible. ...and it happened! Last week >> I went with a couple other designers [+husband] to check out the last days of the special feature. It was great.

I'm reminded again, why I love my job. Design makes life goooood. And happy.

For some reason,...this guys identity system made me really happy. One: it was really fun & inspiring. But maybe it was the way he included his lady into it all. Romance in design is extra-good. ❤

office goodies: crash the ball

Some projects come really quickly, and need good design: fast.

Crash the Ball is the "younger-sibling" of the Orchestra's main fundraising event, Symphony Ball. It happens every summer,...and is a dress-up-get-fancy-give-money-dancing-party. CtB is less ballroom and more DJ. This year, the main Ball is based on Phantom of the Opera >> and the CtB co-chairs are only in the very beginning stages of how they're going to interpret the theme. ...however, they needed some business-style-cards, quick.

Something simple to promote the date and how to get involved. After a quick meeting with the boss, we had an idea for the visuals and put it in motion. Considering the time frame,...i'm pretty happy with it. Lots of fun party photos,...and those mysteriously-sexy masks. YES! ❤

**Also, non-office-related: i'm excited to get back on track, go through my last Christmas photos and do a good ol' recap of 2011. Whew. These last few weeks have been travel-mania, full of family & friend love. Recap: SOON.**

corki [ font love ]

Skimming through some bookmarked font resources today, I found a few newbies ( free! ) that simply made me happy. There are a ton I could direct you to, but thought i'd mention this one here. I think it's got a lot of pretty potential >> we'll see if it ends up in a approaching project...

soooo close [ williams & williams ]

My dear friends have been working hard this past year >> and over the last month or so, I've gotten the chance to work with them on the launch of their photography business.
Right now, they'll be starting by sharing their work through Facebook [ check it out! ] - and sometime next year will launch a full site. For now, we've worked together to give them a look that'll hopefully get them off to a good start. It's been a fun project, probably because they're awesome and have great taste. [ Congrats Kelsey & Eric >> enjoy taking all those photos! ]

in the queue

Helloooooo! I wanted to share a quick snapshot of one of the cool projects i'm working on right now: ice skating! I met the wonderful team at the Braemar Skating Club a few weeks ago, and have been excited to brainstorm on their design and site build.

I'm working with a great programmer on getting the site together, and will be excited to share the final results in a couple months. Right now >> we're wrapping up the beginning branding stages, and it's looking good! FUN!

bringing me joy: quimsy

As most of you know >> I'm selectively working on freelance right now. Attempting to quiet down that side of my life for a bit to focus on some other things & shift my "yes's" to projects I truly love.

Sooo: I currently have a few special projects that are really really awesome. They're projects that revolve around my hobbies,...things that make me happy. ...and one of those projects is for my lovely friend Tonya. A couple weekends ago we traveled to her sister's SW Wisconsin farm to do a shoot for her products and a possible Lookbook to launch with her shop & collection. I spent this past weekend tweaking and going through the nearly 1500 photos we took that day,...and they're seriously georgous. Not because I know what i'm doing, but beacuse she's an insanely lovely model, and her eyes are amazing. Amazing.

She's still working through getting her site/products/etc in line before she launches, but when she does—I'll be sure to share it all, here. For now >> we sit tight. { I can't wait! }

pattern love for the holidays

It's pattern-city on the Orchestra holiday materials, this year.

Lots of fun textures and colors. I thought i'd line them up and see how they look. Hmmm... I'm also pushing for soft-touch varnishes on as many of the materials as I can…soooooooo soft.

[ it won't really translate at all in photos, but... ]
Anyway: { Projects coming soon! }

just finished...

...these invites for my aunt Brenda. She lives with my uncle Pat, only a handful of blocks from my house >> and we're so thankful to have them nearby. If you've met them, you know how awesome they both are.

Every year they throw a fall party. It's a big deal, they invite over 100 of their friends, and we've gotten in the habit of putting together a fun/quick invite each time. This year, we kept it classy and simple. Just a little folded flyer-style piece. Done. Also, for the record (in case you haven't noticed it everywhere in my work lately) - this font is the best, I can't get enough of it these days.

the lost files: artcrank

I may have a slight problem keeping up with myself these days, but,...i've been looking back through my photos—trying to get them all organized. I have a handful of "lost files" - days where fun things happened, interesting things were photographed and none of it ever made it here. I hope to remedy that and share a few of the best.

Back in early April, Kelly + Andy + I went to the annual Artcrank show in northeast Minneapolis. We rode our bikes, grabbing some good food & drinks at Brasa beforehand. [Plantains & limes!] It was good. We saw some great local art (though I never did narrow in on one piece to buy, hm...) - and enjoyed all the bike-love. Mmm...yes.

Also, unrelated: I can't stop listening to The Antlers lately. The opening track is so dreamy.

cool friends + sending mail

We have some of the coolest friends. We really do.

Last week a lovely tube showed up in the mail, sent by our famous friend Eric. He's an amazing designer, and just happens to make awesome posters for awesome bands. When Andy was in Lincoln the other weekend, Eric was all "Hey, does Joa like Iron & Wine at all?" - ...um...Eric, you have no idea.

And his poster? So pretty. It went up in our house immediately.

*Buy things from him. Lots of things!!
**Also, thanks to the huz for being cool when i'm all "Hey! Hold this poster outside while I take pictures of it!!!!!!!!!!!" {Lots of love to him.}
